EA Giving Tuesday

New in 2020

We're making several improvements this year!

This is EA Giving Tuesday's fourth year, and we have several new initiatives in 2020 based on feedback and what we’ve learned:

We support EA donor lottery participants

This year, you don't have to forgo participating in the EA donor lottery: You can participate in both EA Giving Tuesday and the donor lottery! Special thanks to Rebecca Baron for moving this initiative ahead. Instructions here.

We’re giving a virtual talk and Q&A

Curious about EA Giving Tuesday? Attend our virtual talk to learn more! Megan and Avi from the EA Giving Tuesday team will be giving a talk and Q&A on Thursday, November 19th, co-hosted by EA NYC and EA Anywhere. Sign up via Meetup here.

We have more ways to practice clicking fast

Feeling a bit apprehensive about clicking fast? With a little practice before the match, you should be set to click like a pro on Giving Tuesday. One great, easy way to practice is the EA GT simulator, created by Angelina Li and Nix Goldowsky-Dill.

We also strongly recommend practicing a few other things before the match, namely tab-flipping and Facebook practice donations (these can be private). See our instructions to learn how to do both of these things.

We’re acting on learnings from our feedback survey

Much of EA Giving Tuesday's success has been the result of feedback and discussion. Whether or not you're planning on participating this year, one way you can help this project is to give us feedback via this one-page survey.

We’re supporting a record number of highly effective nonprofits

Facebook will match donations to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit, but some highly effective nonprofits don’t have 501(c)(3) status. We include these nonprofits in EA Giving Tuesday through significant assistance from other nonprofits that agree to regrant. Particular thanks is owed to Animal Charity Evaluators, the Centre for Effective Altruism, GiveWell, and Rethink Charity.

Curious about which nonprofits are part of EA Giving Tuesday this year? See this list.
